Preston Beck

Preston Beck is excited about joining the team at Jones Middle School as an Assistant Band Director! Mr. Beck has taught for five years and this is his first year at Jones Middle School. Prior to teaching at Jones, Mr. Beck taught at Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. At Ardrey Kell, Mr. Beck taught concert band, jazz band, and AP music theory classes in addition to leading a Bands of America regional finalist marching band.

Before moving to North Carolina, Mr. Beck was an Assistant Band Director at Reynolds Middle School in Prosper, Texas. There he taught concert bands, beginning band classes, and team taught a jazz band. Former students of Mr. Beck's have gone on to receive statewide individual recognition. Reynolds Bands under Mr. Beck's direction received exclusively "Superior" ratings at competitions and festivals.

Mr. Beck holds the Master of Music in Music Education degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and the Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas (UNT). While at UNCG, he served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the music education department and, while at UNT, he was a drum major of the UNT Green Brigade marching band.

Mr. Beck's musical performance highlights include joint performances with the Dallas Winds and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. The performance with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra was included on an episode of NPR's From the Top.

Mr. Beck is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association. He lives with his fiancé, Melissa, and grey tabby, Katniss.
